This abandoned town used to be flourishing coal mine owned and managed by Harry Ballard and E.W Thompson. It caught fire a couple of times before it was entirely abandoned in the 50‘s.

Kennecott Utah Copper – Bingham Canyon Mine is considered as the largest human-made excavation on earth. A landslide in the mine in 2013 prompted the closure of the mine.

43.) Upheaval Dome in Moab, Utah

This not-so-typical rock formation that looks like a bulls-eye runs three miles across and has a circular shape. Geologists believe that a meteorite impact caused the formation of this ring-like depression.

44.) Kings Peak in Duchesne County, Utah

Kings Peak rises to 13,528 feet above sea level and is considered the highest point in Utah. It was named after the first head of the United States Geological Survey and surveyor of the Sierra Nevada Clarence King.

45.) The Republic of Zaqistan in Wendover, Utah

New York resident Zaq Landsberg bought the barren land on eBay for $610. It has no permanent residents and provides no services.
